About Alan
I was born in Guatemala on September 11, 1970 and was raised in Guatemala City. I have a degree in psychology and then studied photography in the Colorado Institute of Art in Denver, Colorado. After graduating in 1997 with a degree in professional photography, I came back to Guatemala and opened a photography studio in 1998. Since then, I have worked in fashion, advertising, travel, and artistic photography and become a renowned photographer in Guatemala and the region. My specialty is hand colored photographs and painting with light.
Apart from taking professional and artistic pictures, I also teach photography, enjoy traveling and taking landscape and leisure pictures. I consider myself an eclectic photographer who enjoys fine art photography.
Some of the awards I have won are Golden Award from the Arts Director Club, three time winner off the Best Picture of the Year Cup in the Guatemalan Photographic Club and the First Prize in the Biennial of Guatemala. My pictures have been published in several books such as “Guatemala muchos ojos muchos ángulos”, “Spectacular Pools”, “Caliente Quilts” and “Bitácora de imagines” among others, and can also be seen in the website www.alanbenchoam.com

Our selection of photographs has more than 400 images. The images are divided in different categories, so you can select the image which adapts the most to your needs or taste. We are working continuously to add pictures daily to increase our selection.
